Car Transporting Gold Jewelry Hijacked By Armed Robbers In S Romania

A car transporting 43 kilograms of gold jewelry has been hijacked Tuesday by several armed robbers on the highway linking Romanian capital Bucharest to the southern city of Pitesti.

The masked robbers broke the car's windows and stole the jewelry. No one has been hurt.

According to preliminary information, the car was transporting jewelry for a private firm and was not properly equipped for such a task.

The police have started operations to identify and catch the robbers.
