Over Half a Million Electrica Customers Get Smart Meters in Next Five Years

Over half a million customers of state-owned power utility Electrica will have smart meters in the next five years, said Livioara Sujdea, executive distribution manager.

Electrica has proposed the implementation of smart meters for 15% of its 3.7 million customers over the next five years. The project requires approval from the energy regulator because the investment in smart meters will reflect in electricity distribution tariffs.

Electrica had a series of pilot-projects and installed smart meters for 3% of its customers.
