On Tuesday, the Bucharest Court of Appeals overruled the appeals filed by Cutean and Daniela Sbarcea, former economic director of SSPR, against the sentences handed out by a Bucharest court on June 15, 2009.

In 2009, Sbarcea was handed a suspended three-year jail sentence.

Cutean and Sbarcea appealed the decisions ruled in 2009 with the Court of Bucharest, which upheld the previous ruling.

The two challenged the decision with the Court of Appeals, whose ruling is definitive.

In 2006, anticorruption prosecutors indicted Cutean and Sbarcea on charges of public fund misappropriation. (EUR1=RON4.348)
