    Romania’s Prime Minister Emil Boc said Tuesday morning the country will have its state budget adopted by January 15.

    The Parliament is currently debating the draft 2010 state budget.

    "We will have a state budget by January 15," Boc said.

    Social democrat leader Mircea Geoana urged social democrat lawmakers to preset all their amendments to the draft state budget and the social security budget for 2010, and fight for them "right to the bitter end," people close to the matter said.

    Opposition parties brought thousands of amendments to the draft state budget and the social security budget for 2010, but only a few were endorsed by the Parliament's budget and finance committees.

    Romania has to adopt the state budget by mid-January to unblock new disbursements from a EUR20 billion multilateral loan package that were halted over political turmoil following the collapse of the country's government in October.
