Romanian Actor Gheorghe Dinica Buried Friday With Military Honors

The funeral was attended by thousands of people, fans, actors and friends of the artist.

Dinica was buried with military honors and received the Order for Faithful Service in the Rank of Grand Officer.

On October 22, Dinica was admitted to the Floreasca hospital where he received medical care and treatment for multiple infections, which affected most vital organs. Dinica underwent a bile duct laparoscopic surgery Monday morning, which worsened his health condition and ultimately led to his death.

Dinica, one of Romania's most famous and highly acclaimed actors, made his debut as an actor with the film "The Stranger" in 1963 and has starred in over 60 films since then, among which, "The Afternoon of a Torturer," "Filantropica," "Regina" (TV Series), "Gypsy Heart" (TV Series). Dinica also performed for some of the most famous Romanian theaters and acted in "Tache, Ianke and Cadar," "The Name of the Rose," "Waiting for Godot", and numerous other plays.

Dinica also released several folk music albums alongside late actor Stefan Iordache and folk singer Nelu Ploiesteanu.

Since 2002, Dinica has been honorary member of the society of I.L.Caragiale National Theater. Dinica, also an honorary citizen of the city of Bucharest, was awarded the "Faithful Service" Order in the rank of Grand Officer.
