Romanian Defense Council Approves First Stage Of CFR Marfa Privatization

Romania's Defense Council on Monday approved the draft Government Decision green-lighting the first stage of the privatization of national railway company CFR Marfa and mandating the Transport Ministry to sell more than 50% of its stock.

CFR Marfa will have to meet certain transport needs during emergencies, as well as requirements deriving from Romania's commitments to NATO and to the United States, says a Presidential Administration press release.
