"Unfortunately, women’s football is very hard to develop, because people are reticent. Over the next two years we will have to force, by rules, League I and League II clubs to implement women’s football teams," Sandu said.

Sandu asked the Ministry of Education to implement three hours of physical education in Romanian schools.

The official added the Football Federation will receive EUR100,000 from UEFA to develop basic football.

The initiator of the project promoting mixed football, Daniel Robe, said there will be many centers created for the training of girls and boys.

The Cup of School in mixed football will be organized in 14 cities hosting teams from three counties each, composed of boys and girls in grades V through VIII, born after 1997. The final tournament will be organized between June 19 and 21, 2009, in Constanta, and will be attended by 14 teams including the best players in the regional tournaments.
