"We have long supported the postal vote and we will propose the creation of a Parliament committee that would analyze the systematic errors caused by electoral legislation allowing frauds, and which would improve said legislation," Orban said.

He added postal voting is a voting method widely applied in consolidated democracies.

Asked to comment on President Traian Basescu's intention to move for the introduction of the postal vote, Orban said: "This voting system is a good idea. It does not matter where it comes from."

According to Orban, this voting method would prevent multiple voting and would allow any citizen to vote, regardless of their whereabouts.

"The only issue lies in the legal provisions, which need to be clear in order to prevent electoral fraud," Orban added.

Romanian President Basescu said Wednesday that one of the greatest successes of his previous term was fulfilling his promises to Romanians abroad, adding that he will push towards implementing postal voting and setting up a call center for the diaspora.

He said that during the second term he aims to implement postal voting, set up a call center for Romanians abroad and open new consulates.
