Romanian MPs Approve Nomination Of Constantin Nita For SMEs, Business Environ Min
Romanian parliamentary committees approved the nomination of social democrat Constantin Nita for the headship of the Ministry of SMEs and Business Environment in the next Cabinet, following hearings on Saturday.
The special joined committees validated him by 37 votes in favor, eight abstentions and no votes against.
Nita said during the hearings his main job in the coming years will be to increase the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country’s economy, by granting funds to companies and by finding solutions to fund their activity.
"We will amend the Fiscal Code and introduce tax exemption for profit re-invested in technology, and global tax system for activities in the services sector. We also want to capitalize (Romanian lenders –e.n.) CEC, Eximbank and the SME Loan Guarantee Fund, to offer solutions to fund the companies’ activities. We will propose a capital increase of EUR100 million for CEC and the Guarantee Fund,” Nita added.
"It’s a ministry whose name does not say much, but it is very important for the economic environment, as SMEs have been the main engine for the past years’ economic growth, as I hope it would remain in the next four years. The crisis can be overcome via SMEs, which must be supported,” Nita said.
