Code Red Flood Alert On River Prut, Along Romania-Moldova Border

Romanian hydrologists issued a code red flood alert on a section of Prut river, which runs along Romania’s border with the Republic of Moldova, but other sections of the river are also under the advisory.

Flash-floods are expected to affect the eastern Romanian county of Botosani. Twenty-four people, including seven children, and more than 100 livestock were relocated Wednesday night.

More than half the country has been affected by floods so far this week as many rivers, including the Danube, have overflowed following heavy rainfall. Three people died and hundreds were relocated to avoid more victims.
