European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Wednesday that Romania and Bulgaria should enter the Schengen area as soon as possible.

Juncker said that the European Union should unite the continent rather than divide it and that the Schengen area must expand, if the Union is to maintain credible membership prospects to the Western Balkans.

Juncker made these statements during his annual speech on the state of the Union.
