Old Probe Bursts, Scatters 1,000 Liters Of Crude Oil In Eastern Romania

An oil probe in Beresti Tazlau commune, in Romania’s eastern county of Bacau, erupted Sunday at noon scattering one thousand liters of crude oil onto a surface of 150 square meters.

"The breakdown was due to a large accumulation of oil on the probe’s pipeline, and the pressure caused it to burst. Some one thousand liters of crude oil were scattered onto a surface of 150 square meters,” said Andrei Grecu, spokesman for the local emergency inspectorate.

Environment authorities intervened to clean the area and reduce pollution.
