One Hundred Incidents Recorded In Romanian Elections By GMT 1400

One hundred incidents were registered at the polls in Romania Sunday by GMT 1400, and 16 criminal records have been initiated, mostly for the offering or receiving of material benefits in exchange for votes and missing or destroyed voting stamps.

Officials of the Interior Ministry said most incidents were reported in capital city Bucharest (19), in counties Buzau and Calarasi (12 incidents each) and Mures (eight).

Following these incidents, of which some were violent, authorities issued fines of a total 10,100 lei (EUR1-RON3.7794), the ministry said.
