Romania 3Q GDP Falls At Second Fastest Pace In EU

Romanian economy shrank at the second-fastest pace in the European Union in the third quarter, outranked only by Greece, official data showed Friday.

Romanian third-quarter GDP fell 0.7% on the quarter, EU's statistics office Eurostat said in a flash estimate. Greece's economy sank 1.1% in the third quarter.

In the EU bloc, average GDP growth stood at 0.4% in the third quarter compared with the previous quarter. The annual increase was 2.1%.

In annual terms, Romanian economy shrank by 2.3% in July to September, also the second largest decrease in the EU bloc.
