Romania’s Steaua Coach Quits After Shameful Defeat In Champions League

Steaua Bucharest coach Marius Lacatus resigned Wednesday morning after the team took a shameful 3-5 beating on home turf from France’s Olympique Lyon Tuesday evening, in the third round of matches in group F of UEFA Champions League.

The optimistic beginning of the match, when Arthuro and Goian scored for Steaua, was sunk by numerous mistakes that allowed the opponents to score five goals until the end of the match.

This is the second match Steaua loses at home in this edition of Champions League.

Lacatus has coached Steaua since the fall of 2007.
