Romania To Increase Farming Subsidies By Over 10% This Year – Agric Min

Romania will increase the value of subsidies provided to farmers this year by over 10% compared to 2010, Agriculture Minister Valeriu Tabara said Wednesday in a press conference.

In 2010, farmers received EUR80.36 per hectare from European Union funds, plus EUR50.64 per hectare from the state budget, said the minister. In 2009, the total value of aid was EUR117 per hectare.

For 2011, the state and European Union are prepared to provide Romanian farmers a total of 3.4 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.1035), including RON2.2 billion through the Single Area Payment Scheme (SAPS) for 2010.
