Romanian Ex President Iliescu Booed Again At ’89 Revolution Commemorations

Romania’s former president Ion Iliescu was booed again Monday morning when he attended the commemoration of heroes of the 1989 anti-communist revolution.

A 78 year-old man, who cursed at Iliescu and accused him of the death of his two sons in the Revolution, was picked up by security forces.

On Sunday, Iliescu was booed and cursed when he attended a similar ceremony at the cemetery in Bucharest where many victims of the revolution are buried.

Iliescu, a former communist, is largely blamed for the events in 1989 and the miners’ riots a year later.
