The director of the Romanian Land Reclamation Company, Costel Iancu, told MEDIAFAX he resigned his position, starting February 20, and will present his resignation to the agriculture minister Monday.

"I have faxed in my resignation and Monday I will hand it to the minister. The resignation is dated yesterday (Friday),” Iancu said.
He added he resigned so that there would not be any suspicion regarding his Democrat Liberal Party colleagues.
Iancu resigned following a media scandal in which he was accused of being investigated by organized crime police for kidnapping.
