EBRD, EIB, IFC Made Available EUR1.76B For Romania In 2009-2010

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and the International Finance Corporation made available EUR1.76 billion to support Romanian banks in the 2009-2010 interval, within a joint action plan aimed to help financial systems in Central and Eastern Europe.

EBRD, EIB, IFC Made Available EUR1.76B For Romanian In 2009-2010

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) made available funds in the amount of EUR218 million for Romania, the EBRD said in a report released Friday.

EBRD committed EUR799 million, of which EUR431 million were signed and EUR282 million disbursed.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) approved EUR795 million for Romania and signed loan agreements for EUR700 million, of which EUR437 million were disbursed between 2009 and 2010.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) signed EUR168 million loan agreements with Romania and disbursed EUR90 million.

The three international financial institutions launched a joint plan in February 2009 to support banking systems and lending in Central and Eastern Europe, aiming to deliver assistance of up to EUR24.5 billion for 2009-2010.

The initial EUR24.5 billion commitment has been exceeded and the three financial institutions made available over EUR33 billion, according to the report.

EBRD made available funds totaling EUR8 billion, signed loan agreements for EUR6.45 billion and disbursed EUR4.1 billion.

EIB committed EUR15.5 billion, signed loans for EUR13.1 billion and disbursed EUR8.4 billion.

IBRD made available EUR5 billion and signed loan agreements for EUR3.5 billion.

IFC signed loans for EUR2.4 billion and disbursed EUR1.7 billion.
