President Klaus Iohannis has spoken on the phone with his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella about the epidemiological crisis generated by the coronavirus. As a sign of solidarity, the Presidential Administration will light Cotroceni Palace on Thursday evening in the colors of the Italian flag.

Klaus Iohannis had a phone conversation with Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Thursday.

"During the discussion, the epidemiological crisis generated by the new coronavirus was addressed. President Klaus Iohannis transmitted a message of solidarity to the Italian people, so strongly affected by the pandemic, condolences for the loss of human lives, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery for those affected by this virus", the Presidential Administration states.

Iohannis presented to his counterpart the actions applied by the Romanian authorities for the identification and treatment of COVID-19 patients, as well as for preventing the transmission of the new coronavirus.

As a sign of solidarity with the Italian Republic and with the Italian people, the Presidential Administration will light, on Thursday evening, from 20.00, the Cotroceni Palace in the colors of the Italian flag.
