Mircea Geoana Removed As Romanian Senate President

Mircea Geoana was removed Wednesday from the office of Senate President, after being expelled from the Social Democratic Party.

The Senate plenum approved the termination of Geoana's term as President with 112 votes for, two votes against and five abstentions.

The Senate's Standing Bureau has appointed Petru Filip, of the Democratic Liberal Party, as acting president of the house.
