Romania And Bulgaria To Cooperate In Preparation Of Their EU Council Presidency Terms

Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Bulgarian Minister for Bulgaria’s Presidency of The European Union Council Lilyana Pavlova agreed for the two countries to cooperate in preparation of their terms for the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Romania And Bulgaria To Cooperate In Preparation Of Their EU Council Presidency Terms

Ciolacu said that cooperation and proper preparation are key elements for both Romania and Bulgaria to capitalize on the opportunities the presidency terms will provide.

Pavlova said that Bulgaria is already in an advanced stage of preparation and that the country is ready to share its experience with Romania, regarding both the preparations and the term itself.

The two officials also discussed possible common projects on energy and economy, a topic which could be addressed at the joint government meeting to be held in Varna this autumn as well.

Bulgaria will start its Presidency term on 1 July 2018, while Romania will exercise its term between January and June 2019.
