Romania March Overdue Loans Up 1.3% On Month To RON17.8B

Romanian overdue private loans rose 1.3% on the month to 17.8 billion lei (EUR4.4 billion) in March, equal to 8.66% of the total lending, central bank data showed Thursday.

A month earlier, overdue non-government loans stood at RON17.6 billion.

Compared with the same month of 2010, overdue private loans rose by over 70% in March.

Past due loans in Romanian lei were up 1.7% on the month to RON8.2 billion in March, while overdue foreign currency loans rose 0.9% to RON9.6 billion, the data showed.

End March, overall private lending was down 1.3% from the earlier month, at RON205.4 billion. (EUR1=RON4.076)
