The company's deputy general manager, Dragos Zahia, will replace Trihenea on an interim basis, according to Ariton.

Hidroelectrica is Romania's largest electricity producer. Another important electricity producer is nuclear plant Nuclearelectrica, whose general manager, Pompiliu Budulan, resigned recently.

Both companies may receive private management in 2012.
