Romanian MPs in the Chamber of Deputies on Monday passed a government decree raising the sales tax to 24% from 19%, which has been in effect since July.

The decree, which amends the Tax Code, was passed 172 to 48 votes and three abstentions.

The decree has been previously approved by the Senate.
