"Romania will continue to support the reform of the UN and its mission to promote and develop international peace and security, as well as defend the values of democracy, human rights, the rule of law and social development. During this session, Romania enjoys increased credibility as regards its cooperation with the UN, thanks to its clear actions and its promotion of innovative institutional formulas, leading to Romania's continued presence in the UN's most important agencies," said Boc.

He mentioned the UN Development Program, UNICEF, the UN Population Fund, the UNESCO Center for Higher Education and the Emergency Transit Center for Refugees.

"Romania will also continue to promote its traditional themes, within the constraints of cooperation with the UN, regional and sub-regional organizations towards maintaining international peace and security, promoting democracy and human rights, and supporting their development. Such actions make up Romania's long-term strategic goal to consolidate its regional and global political profile," Boc added.

Prime Minister Boc will represent Romania in the high-level plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly on Millennium Development Goals, held in New York City between September 21 and 24. He will also attend the 65th session of the General Assembly, taking place at the same time.

Boc will have a series of bilateral political engagements, as well as meetings with business people.
