Blast In N.Romania Injures 23

A blast at a wood processing plant in Gheorgheni town, northern Romania injured 23 people, local authorities said Saturday.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a sparkle which lit the sawdust.

According to specialists, given certain temperature and humidity conditions, the sawdust can act similar to powder gun.

By presstime, twenty-one of the injured people were still in the hospital, nine of them being treated for severe burns.

One of the injured is in critical condition, as the burns affected over 50% of the body surface.
