Bogdan Chireac has filed his resignation from his position of editor-in-chief of Romanian daily ‘Gandul’ and from the daily’s editorial staff, in an attempt to end the “absurd attacks” against the paper and its manager, Cristian Tudor Popescu.

Bogdan Chireac Quits Romanian Daily ‘Gandul’

“Evenimentul Zilei” daily recently accused Chireac of writing an article against a rival of a company he owns shares in.

Chireac’s gesture was “necessary” both for the paper and for the Romanian media, Tudor Popescu said, mentioning all journalists with “Gandul” will submit wealth statements.
