Bucharest Airport Area Taxi Drivers Fined Some RON100,000

Taxi drivers working in the Bucharest airport areas were thoroughly checked Wednesday and one third were fined for irregularities found in their documents, the Romanian police announced.

Bucharest Airport Area Taxis Drivers Fined Some RON100,000

Fines levied Wednesday amounted to some RON100,000.

Authorities checked 167 taxis and fined 60 drivers.

"We found no “pirate taxis” today, but we found quite a lot of drivers whose documents were not in order, whose cars were not equipped properly and some who hadn’t tuned on their meters," said chief-commissioner Dan Rosoga.
