Bucharest To Be Promoted To Metropolis – Prefecture

Romania’s capital city Bucharest might be promoted to metropolis, according to a draft law due for completion shortly, the Bucharest Prefecture said Wednesday.

The promotion will ensure a unitary development of the city, both in relation to social and economic indicators and to the city planning sector, Bucharest Prefect Ion Tincu said.

Tincu said Bucharest can be promoted to metropolis state once the concept is introduced in the Romanian legislation.

Also, the new legislation will allow for the development of the related metropolitan area, Tincu said.
