Romanian natural gas prices should increase by 12% on April 1 and by up to 20% in 2008, due to the rise of prices on the international market, representatives of E.ON Gaz Romania said Tuesday.

Should the prices do not rise on April 1, E.ON Gaz Romania will report a loss of 55 million lei (EUR1-RON3.6984) in the first quarter of 2008, the statement also read.
E.ON Gas Romania said the natural gas price hike will not trigger the increase in the company’s profit.
On February 1, Romania’s energy regulator ANRE hiked natural gas prices for household consumers by 8.5%.
