The European Parliament on Wednesday approved the allocation for over EUR182 million
To six EU countries that faced flooding in the summer of 2010.
According to a press release, Romanian MEP Petru Luhan started procedures last year to introduce Romania in the resolution regarding flood relief. The Romanian Government also requested funding from the EU's Solidarity Fund.
Flood damage in Romania in summer 2010 amounted to EUR876 million, or 0.6669% of the country's gross domestic product.
