Excise Duties May Be Hiked 1 Yr Earlier In Jan ‘09 - Union Head

Dumitru Costin, head of National Trade Union Bloc (BNS), said Wednesday that the excise duty increase for cigarettes, energy, and gas, agreed with the European Union, might be applied as of January 1, 2009, instead of January 1, 2010.

Costin added that the excise duties increase for energy and gas would impact product prices, affecting the population as well.

BNS head also said that the issue was not detailed, adding that the budget draft might be ready Monday.
