Flood Alert On Prut River, E Romania, Extended Until At Least Friday Afternoon

Romanian authorities decided Thursday to extend thee maximum flood alert on the Prut river, in eastern Romania along the border with the Republic of Moldova, until at least Friday afternoon.

Romania has been severely hit by floods over the past three weeks, resulting in 23 deaths and thousands of people evacuated. Damages caused by floods by last week were assessed at EUR59 million.
