The Romanian Office for Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation (DIICOT) has cleared former president Ion Iliescu of the charges of undermining state authority and acts of diversion in the case of the June 13-15, 1990 miner uprising.

“The same decision was taken regarding 30 other suspects, charged with undermining state authority as per article 162 paragraph 2 of the Criminal code. Investigations will cease or not be started against other people [mentioned in the case],” a DIICOT press statement said Wednesday.
