Graft-Indicted Romanian Senator Remains In Custody

Romanian social democrat senator Catalin Voicu, awaiting trial for corruption, will remain under preventive arrest, a panel of five judges of the Romanian Supreme Court ruled Friday.

A section of the Supreme Court had ruled Wednesday Voicu could be probed at large and imposed a travel ban, but the ruling was appealed by anticorruption prosecutors.

Voicu has been under arrest for more than a year on charges of influence peddling.
