Liberal Norica Nicolai Appointed Head Of Romanian Senate’s Legal Committee

Liberal Senator Norica Nicolai was elected head of the Romanian Senate’s legal committee by a unanimous vote on Tuesday, following the resignation of Peter Eckstein Kovacs.

Nicolai said her new position is not in conflict with her current position as deputy president of the Senate.

Eckstein Kovacs, member of the Democratic Union of Hungarian in Romania (UDMR), resigned last week, after the Senate’s legal committee rejected a version of the Law setting up the National Integrity Agency which stipulated the agency was to verify illegitimate wealth statements of Romanian dignitaries.
