Over One Third Of Arpechim Pitesti Employees To Be Laid Off On January 9

More than a third of the employees of Romanian refinery Arpechim Pitesti, which belongs to oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO), will be laid off on January 9.

Arpechim Pitesti will lay off 259 of its 618 employees. The employees made redundant will receive 35,100 lei each (EUR8,088) as severance pay.

Authorities decided initially to lay off 400 employees of Arpechim Pitesti. The decision was revised as Ploiesti-based refinery Petrobrazi needed more staff, but only for a definite period of time. (EUR1=RON4.3398)
