Romania 8-Mo New Car Sales Dn 53.5% YY To 92,428 Units

New car sales in Romania stood at 92,428 units in the first eight months, down 53.5% on the year, the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association, or APIA, said in a statement Thursday.

In January-August 2008, new car sales stood at 198,861 units.

Compared with July, car sales dropped 21.3% in August to 9,607 units, APIA said.

Romania's overall auto market (including cars, commercial vehicles and buses) dropped 56.7% on the year to 103,592 units in January-August. On the month, auto sales were down 17.8% to 11,066 units.
