Romania Assesses Flood Damage At EUR59M

Damages caused by recent flooding in Romania has been assessed at about EUR59 million, as 3,480 homes have been affected, 250 homes have collapsed and over 30 kilometers of roads have been deteriorated, the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism said Friday.

Development and Tourism Minister Elena Udrea told a news conference the assessment of the damage includes data available until July 6.

However, costs are expected to rise as the country is still under the threat of floods and authorities continue the evacuation of people from the areas placed under high risk flood alert.
