Romania Confirms New AH1N1 Flu Case, Toll Reaches 48

Romania’s Cantacuzino Institute confirmed Tuesday evening a new case of infection with the AH1N1 influenza virus in a woman in Timisoara, western Romania, who returned from the United States on July 1, the Health Ministry said Wednesday.

The number of confirmed cases in Romania has reached 48.

The patient is being treated at the local infectious diseases hospital and is in good condition.

According to the most recent toll of the World Health Organization, the AH1N1 influenza virus has infected over 98,000 people worldwide and proved deadly for over 440 patients.
