Romania's 1H Finished Dwellings At 23,501, Up 1,248 Units YY

Romania's finished dwellings were at 23,501 in the first half of 2009, 1,248 more than in the same period a year before, the National Institute for Statistics said Wednesday.

In the January-June period, 52% of the dwellings were built in the urban area, a reversed trend compared with the same period in 2008. Thus, in the first half of 2008, the rural area accounted for 52.8% of completed dwellings.

In the second quarter alone, 12,906 dwellings were completed , 1,554 more compared with the same period a year before, with 53% of them in the urban area.

INS said the data are preliminary.
