Stroe said the Romanian auto industry stood at EUR8.1 billion last year, of which EUR2.6 billion came from the car making industry and the remainder from car part production.

Speaking about the domestic car market, Stroe said car sales would reach this year 90% of last year's sales, in the most optimistic scenario. New car registrations in 2009 in Romania stood at about 116,000 units.
