Romanian President Traian Basescu got over 50% of the votes of Romanians abroad in the first round of presidential elections Sunday, followed by liberal Crin Antonescu and social democrat Mircea Geoana, observers told MEDIAFAX Monday.

The sources added Geoana, who will face Basescu in a December 6 runoff, got few votes in Europe but a better score in the United States.
