Romania’s Draft Constitution: PM Must Consult President On Cabinet Changes

Romania’s Prime Minister may propose dismissing or appointing a minister only after consultations with the head of state, according to a bill revising the Constitution, available on the Presidential Administration’s website.

The president dismisses and appoints new ministers, if the Government is reshuffled or a minister position is vacant, based on propositions made by the Prime Minister.

President Traian Basescu on Wednesday sent the bill revising the Constitution to the Legislative Council for a standpoint.
