Romania's Targu Mures Airport Reports Record-High Traffic In 2011

The "Transilvania" Airport in Targu Mures served more than 250,000 passengers in 2011, the highest number since it was opened, and expects to set a new record for traffic in 2012.

According to a press release, the airport served 257,303 passengers last year, compared with 74,856 in 2010. The increase in traffic owes mainly to low-cost airline Wizz Air's new flights out of Targu Mures, to eight European destinations.

By January 5, 2012, the airport had served 3,300 passengers, leading management to expect a new record by the end of the year.
