Romania Ups Payments For Electoral Office Members, Auxiliary Staff

The Romanian government Wednesday decided to increase to 66 lei (EUR1-RON3.6412) from RON50 the daily payment granted to members of the Central Electoral Office for their activity in 2008.

The funds will be covered from the budget of the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform.

Auxiliary staff is to receive RON50 a day compared to RON35 a day in 2007, according to the government’s decision.

The government mentioned the salary hikes will not affect the budget allocated for the local elections in 2008.
