Romanian Actor Ovidiu Iuliu Moldovan Awarded Post-Mortem

Romanian President Traian Basescu on Saturday granted late actor Ovidiu Iuliu Moldovan the post-mortem decoration “Romanian Star,” Knight Rank, the presidency said in a statement.

The head of state signed the decree “as a token of appreciation for his entire artistic career, in the service of theater and movie in our country,” the statement read.

Moldovan, age 66, died of cirrhosis at the Bucharest University Hospital on Wednesday night.

He was buried Saturday afternoon during a ceremony attended by several hundreds of people.
