Romanian Chamber Of Deputies Rejects Liberals’ Motion On Agriculture

Romania’s Chamber of Deputies rejected late Monday the simple motion "Agriculture and rural development heading for disaster” in which the opposition Liberal Party urged the resignation of agriculture minister Ilie Sarbu.

The motion was rejected 134 to 56 votes.

Only the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), also in opposition, committed to back the liberals’ motion, but governing coalition partners democrat liberals and social democrats, which have a 70% parliament majority, rejected the act.
