Romanian chess players Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu and Constantin Lupulescu obtained 7.5 out of a possible 11 points in the European Chess Championship in Montenegro, thus qualifying in the World Cup, which will take place between November 20 and December 15 in Russia in Khanti Mansisk (Russia).

The two obtained these scores after winning the blitz tie-breaks: Nisipeanu-Kurnosov (Russia) 1.5-0.5 and Lupulescu-Pashikian (Armenia) 2-0.
 
The gold medal will go to Russia, since the final will be played between Vladimir Malakhov and Evgeny Tomashevski.
